Convention Here we Come!!!

CAUTION: This post contains too many topics too talk about, so we have started with recent show results.

The Montery County Fair(youth) yesterday was AWESOME! We had the judge Randy Cler all the way from Alaska!! Results:

BOV solids- MG's Mew SSD
BOSV- Gard's Waffles SSB
BOV brokens- MG's Bubba Gump BSB
BOSV- WH's Blue BSD
BOB- Bubba
BOSB- Blue

and MG's Bubba Gump went on to win RESERVE IN SHOW and BEST OF FUR!!!

Recently our rabbits have taken an amazing uphill direction. Our Juniors, for the first time, look AMAZING! This is extremely rare for M & G Rabbitry, becuase usually our rabbits don't begin to blossom until a LONG while after turning senior. MG's Tanzy(youth), MG's Mandy(open), MG's Tangerine(youth), and MG's Susie(youth), have all become what have been our best juniors, well, in forever!!! And they all share the same dad, AK's Highlander. I have decided to take 2 or 3 of my Convention Juniors to Convention.

the other uphill topic, is now my own breedings are doing great! MG's Oliver(retired) was my first grand champion, earning 19 Legs before ending his career. MG's Milkyway was my second(still showing) having 10 legs, and now being beaten by his own son! That's right, MG's Bubba Gump took a HUGE advantage on the show tables in September of '07, just before turning senior, winning his first BOB, and from there on winning at about 90% of the shows he attends. Bubba currently has 16, pure, BOB legs and winning a Breeder's Class(people enter their best homebred rabbit) at the Rohnert Park show in February '08. Earlier that February, Bubba has won BEST OF FUR at the Cloverdale Citrus fair. Now totalling a number of 6 Honorable Mentions for BIS, 1 RIS, 2 BEST OF FUR's, and one breeder's class, and currently 3rd FLOY, the name "Bubba" truly fits.

Now, knowing EXACTLY who I'm taking to Convention, I can't wait for the day to finally be here. Convention is almost here, and I couldn't be more excited.

Well, Well, Well

M & G Rabbitry is pretty dang proud of how we did at the Dixon Fiber Fair(open show) on 7/19. In show A and C, we had no first places, but PFF's Simon got 2nd place BSB out of the toughest class! MG's Mew got 2nd every show SSD. MG's Twix and PFF's Dazzle switched for 3rd and 4th places in the BSD class out of 9! But the real prize was when PFF's Simon took BOB in Show B. There weren't as many rabbits becuase one of the exhibitors was judging that show, but still, it made me feel pretty proud. That is the first time I have EVER gotten BOB in open when I wasn't the only exhibitor! I mean, I've gotten BOSB a couple times, but never BOB.

anyways, onto Convention Talk! I already have it planned out 3 rabbits that I am FOR SURE taking out of 4(unless they COMPLETELY blow there coat, but lets not jinx it). I am positive I am taking PFF's Simon(BSB), MG's Bubba Gump(BSB), and Gard's Waffles(SSB). Waffles is starting to look AWESOME again! his coat is back, and he is chowing down on his food once again! yay Waffles. The last spot for my convention bunny will be between PFF's Dazzle(BSD), MG's Mew(SSD), MG's Tanzy(SJD), and MG's Susie(SJD). It's such a hard choice! But I'll just have to wait until entry time to see what the juniors look like, our juniors usually dont look that good so it will probebly be between Mew and Dazzle. I love blogging bunnies xD

I have chosen the perfect names for our litter of 4 out of Gard's Daytona and AK's Highlander! check out our In The Nestbox page on our site to see the new pictures of them.

I have started a buisness of drawing pictures of YOUR rabbits! all of the profits go towards my convention fund. I will set up a new page all about it and prices, and examples soon.

ta-ta for now,
Jen

Dropzone

Hey all, we have a new baby here at M & G Rabbitry!!! a SOLID SABLE POINT!!!! the cross AK's Highlander(broken sable point) x MG's Riki Tiki Tavi(REW) turned out great! well when tavi had her babies NO problems with delivering like usual, and she had 2 huge dead babies on the wire and 2 dead in the nestbox. well we feeled around and could not feel anymore babies. well we were in the middle of throwing the nestbox out, when we looked into the empty garbage(except for a TON of fluff we threw in) and ontop struggling around was this LITTLE BABY!!! OMG! I freaking attacked the garbage can trying to get the baby....not a pretty site. anyways, its ok, healthy, it landed on the fluff so its ok, and the mom is taking care of it. and we decided to name it MG's Avalanch.

so, for show results, we took BOB and BOSB in the open show in Gridley. And in show a PFF's Dazzle got honorable mention for BIS and was taken out 3 times! fun fun fun!

so, I am SOOOO UNBELEIVABLY ECSTATIC for Carol Green's backyard show on 6/28! I'm now out for summer and already planning and wayy too happy to be going! Are you going? its a super DUPER fun show with friends and a potluck and there's a swimming pool! THere is a raffle and now a 3 show specialty for fuzzy Lops! its also a specialty for Angoras and Jersey woolies.

hope I see you at the show!,

Doe Domination!

In the last 6 months, I couldn't help notice that when I took BOB it was always, ALWAYS--a Broken Sr. Buck. Then a sudden shift--now the Dos are comoing back on top! In the show in Stockton May 3rd, PFF's Dazzle took BOB, and Cow Palace Show A day 1 she took BOB too. At the last show, Bakersfield 5/17, AK's Meri(SSD) ended up taking BOB and MG's Bubba Gump(BSB) took BOSB for show A. In show B MG's Mew(SJD) took BOV solids over her father and almost took BOB! WH's Blue took BOB in show B making her 28th leg and her first BOB in over a year!! PFF's Simon took BOSB. Now what is it that the judges usually like the bucks for over the does? The chunky heads, well set bodies? I think lately the judges have been comparing the winners of the class more of "to each other" rather than to the standard according to what the winner of THAT CLASS is suppose to look like.

So, we have 6 more babies at M & G Rabbitry! the cross AK's Highlander(broken sable point) x MG's Melon(broken orange)..........and guesss what we ended up with all torts and 2 oranges.......yay torts........funnn...........

until nexttt timee,
Jennifer

Atilla the Bun

So, there has been alot going on around here, with little time to post! Since my last post, we have gone to 2 shows, Monterey 4/20 and Stockton 5/3. In Monterey I showed in Open, and ended up taking BOSB with PFF's Simon in show A, and BOV and BOSV solids in show B. That was exciting. Now, Our stockton results were a little different. In Show A PFF's Dazzle took BOB and Gard's Waffles took BOSB. In show B Gard's Waffles took BOB and MG's Mew took BOSB. I am so proud of Mew right now, she is my recent creation and is doing so well! I love it when the judges say "what a promiseing little doe" and "she's one to watch out for!". It makes me so proud to see Waffles' little duaghter doing so well. In fact, I'm am looking at her right now in our office and she is flopped over, her cute little ears sticking up, listening to the keyboard noises. Darn, If only her ears would stay down! Well, they are improving each day. Until next time,

Jennay Turtle
